SNOW!

Well, in the 12 years that I have lived in Grass Valley/Nevada City I have never seen or heard of a winter like this one. We have had two weeks of sustained snow/ice. All -in-all we received about 3 1/2 feet of snow-which is just bearing down on our rooftop. Darren and I were 'sans' cars for the past 6 days! We have both been getting rides to work, shoveling snow, picking at ice, sanding and salting our road and constantly running the heater (which we will regret when the PG&E bill comes!). I HATE IT! I am tired of it, and want it to go away. We have had to literally HIKE out of our neighborhood onto the main road to get rides.
Yesterday the garbage truck attempted to come and do a pick up-and got completely stuck! Last night was the first night that we were able to get the Jetta out (the BMW is STUCK STUCK!). It was a miracle, both of us were so happy. I actually drove myself to work today and felt so GLAD! To top it all off, the weight of all of this snow caused a tree to fall on our driveway. By miracle, our cars were both snowed in at other locations, or we would have had a serious auto-body bill to accompany our PG&E bill.
Here are some pictures of the tree and one of the nights of snow-it doesn't show how much we truly have, because we had shoveled so much of it out of the way!  Oh well.  I guess that is part of living where we do.  In the past it has only been once or twice a year, and it melts away by the next day.  This is just one of those times.  Darren says that there is no question--by this time next year, we will have a 4 wheel drive vehicle.

Hey Tish! Crazy about all the snow you're getting. Hopefully you'll have a little break this week. Sounds like everywhere in the States is getting pounded. Don't know why you can't see my blog. Are you using a Mac? That could be why. When I changed my background, I had to make the color of my text lighter since the background is so dark. No one else has said anything about not being able to see it. Let me know what type of computer you're using. Thanks! Love ya.

That is insane! It snowed here like crazy on Saturday, but didn't stick thank goodness. 4WD is the way to go... until you look at the crappy mileage.

This has been a fun and crazy winter all over the states! I've enjoyed it, but like you, I'm getting pretty anxious for Spring to get here!
Good luck with the shoveling!

Hmmmm...it sounds like proof positive that our planet IS getting hotter and Global Warming DOES exist.
